Plenty Good Room: A Lenten Bible Study Based on African American Spirituals

This unique Bible study combines an in-depth look at Scripture, American history, and the music and lyrics of six African American spirituals. The six-session study provides biblical, social, and historical analyses of the spirituals.

5 Wednesdays beginning February 21st

6:00 pm Light Potluck Supper

6:30 pm A Sacred Conversation

Following supper, we will reflect and dialogue about healing divisions in our society, understanding overt racism and more subtle examples, both personal and systemic, that infuse our language, attitudes and culture.

We will use biblical reflection as well as a board game “Breaking It Down: Towards E Pluribus Unum,” a game to promote Cross-Racial and Cross-cultural harmony,  which has been developed by the National  Race Amity Center to invoke honest discussion, inspire reflection and engage participants in looking at some hard issues in a safe, non-judging atmosphere.

All are welcome and encouraged to undertake this spiritual discipline. Sign-up sheets are available so we can know who is interested and what you might contribute to the potluck.
